About

She-IOWhat is She-IO?

The famous adage says it’s “lonely at the top” and all the data captured regarding women leaders in technology backs this up: Globally, women remain underrepresented in leadership roles in the tech industry, including Chief Information Officer positions.
According to a 2021 survey by ISACA, women make up around 22% of IT professionals globally, highlighting the gender gap in the tech sector.
Women account for less than a third of FTSE 100 CIOs
In the UK, the percentage of women in technology leadership roles, including CIOs, has historically been lower than in other industries.
According to the 2020 "Women in Tech" report by Booking.com, women hold only 12% of leadership roles in technology in the UK.
Being a senior female technology leader can put incumbants in a position of isolation. Some women would never consider the option of becoming a CIO as they don’t believe they have the correct skills. She-IO aims to create a network of supportive members to provide opportunities for discourse outside of the workplace, to provide a supportive environment to all women and non-binary technology leaders and to help those with the correct skills and attributes to become senior leaders.
